For this calendar design, I illustrated an image that captures an aesthetic for each month using found images. Overall used illustrative and layout skills to create aesthetically pleasing calendar that could be hung up as a piece of art that is also functional.

This calendar was very personal to me as I created the aesthetic for each month based off how each month feels to me. Once I established a universal image for each month I illustrated it using complementary colors. I then chose a typeface and created a layout to highlight the image.

I used a bold variant typeface. This typeface fits well because of the way the letterforms can feel different together for each month, similar to very different images on each page, while still being consistent in layout. I kept the layout simple so it didn’t take away from the illustration.

It was interesting to see at the end of this project how much I improved in my illustration skills and technique from when I started. As I got more comfortable with my abilities I started to challenge myself more with image choice.
